All Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed every Sunday. Founder Truett Cathy made the decision to close on Sundays in 1946 when he opened his first restaurant, the Dwarf Grill (now Dwarf House) in Hapeville, Georgia.
Cathy believed that employees should have a day to rest, be with family, and worship if they choose. This tradition has continued for over 75 years, even as the company has grown to thousands of locations nationwide.
Despite being closed one day a week, Chick-fil-A consistently ranks among the highest revenue-per-store of any quick-service restaurant chain in the United States.
